Series 66 practice exam · built to the June 2023 outline
Series 66 pass rate: roughly 1 in 3 fails. Which third are you in?
Ten exam-style questions on the real clock, scored by section, with the topics you missed named at the end — free, no account. Then, if you want the real test: unlimited full simulations of 110 questions in 150 minutes, scored against the official 73/100 pass line.
Pass rate is an industry estimate — NASAA publishes none. The pass line is official.
What's inside
The 66 is the 63 plus the 65 — weighted to what the 66 actually asks.
Almost half the exam is Section 4, and much of that is broker-dealer and agent regulation the Series 65 barely touches. Our bank is weighted the same way, and every timed sitting draws the official 8 / 17 / 30 / 45 distribution.
1,200+ original questions, topic-tagged
Every question is mapped to the outline's own headings — "Agents of broker-dealers", "Custody, discretion & trading authorization", "Valuation factors (P/E, P/B)" — so every score report ends with a "brush up on" list, worst first.
A true full-exam simulation
110 questions on a fixed 150-minute clock — 100 scored at the official weighting plus 10 unmarked pretest questions, exactly like exam day. Flag, skip, return, and the on-screen four-function calculator the center gives you.
Section quizzes, half-length and quick sittings
Twenty-question timed quizzes per section, a 50-question half-length sitting (75 minutes, 37/50), and a 20-question quick sitting at the official mix for days you have half an hour. Unlimited fresh draws.
Pacing, measured
The exam gives you about 90 seconds a scored question. Every sitting ends with your seconds-per-question against that budget, projected onto the full exam — the number content review can't give you.

Series 66 — common questions
What is the Series 66 pass rate?
There is no official figure — NASAA, which owns the exam, publishes no pass-rate statistics. Prep providers' own student data puts first-time passes at roughly 65–70%, so about 1 in 3 fails the first attempt. Treat every precise Series 66 pass-rate claim online as an estimate, because that's what it is.
What score do you need to pass the Series 66?
73 correct out of 100 scored questions. That is official and fixed by NASAA. The exam also includes 10 unscored pretest questions mixed in unmarked, so you see 110 questions in 150 minutes — about 82 seconds each.
What changed in the 2023 Series 66 outline?
From June 12, 2023 the four sections are weighted 8 / 17 / 30 / 45 (the old outline was 5 / 20 / 30 / 45): Economic Factors grew to 8 questions and Investment Vehicles shrank to 17. New topics include SPACs, ADRs, employee stock options, digital assets, ESG criteria, IRMAA, exploitation of vulnerable adults, IAR continuing education, cybersecurity, and business continuity. Our bank is written to the current outline, and every sitting draws 8 / 17 / 30 / 45.
Series 66 or Series 65?
If you have the Series 7 (or your firm is putting you through it), take the 66: one exam covers both the agent and adviser registrations, and the 66 assumes the 7 covered product knowledge, so it is shorter and heavier on state law. Without the 7 you cannot use the 66 for registration — take the 65, which has no corequisite. Full comparison: Series 65 vs Series 66.
Do I need a sponsor to take the Series 66?
No. You can enroll yourself through FINRA's Form U10 and pay the $177 fee, and the exam is valid on its own — but to actually register as an agent and IAR you need the Series 7 corequisite (passed within two years either side) and a sponsoring firm.
What happens if I fail?
A 30-day wait before each of the next two attempts; after three fails the wait is 180 days (60 days for exam windows opened from January 4, 2027). Each attempt is another $177. That is why two full simulations at the pass line, before you book, is the condition on our pass guarantee.
How is this different from Kaplan or STC?
They sell full courses — textbook, video, sometimes live classes — with question banks attached, at $150–$400. We sell only the practice layer, done properly: 1,200+ original questions written to the 2023 outline, timed section quizzes, and full 110-question simulations that mirror the real exam's weighting, clock, pretest mechanics, and on-screen calculator. Pair it with a textbook, or use it alone if you already have the Series 7.
